How to fix a shower tightly to a trap – Plumbing from the best plumbers in Cambridge
Siphons are used in showers to connect the drain to the house pipes that drain wastewater. They are shaped to retain a small amount of water near the drain to prevent waste gases from the drain from flowing back into the bathroom. Also, they are installed with ABS cement, which creates a chemical bond between the siphon and the drain. Using ABS cement is the best way to create a solid connection that will stand the test of time.
Wipe the outer surfaces of the trap pipes with a rag or towel to remove dirt and other contaminants from the plastic.
Assemble the trap from the main supply line to the shower drain. Cut the pipe with a hacksaw or pipe cutter so that the drain is flush with the shower pan.
Dab the inside of the fittings and the ends of the trap pipes with a clear primer for plastic pipes to clean the surfaces before bonding.
Blot the inside of the siphon nut parts and the outside of the siphon nut pipes with a generous amount of ABS cement or general purpose cement for plastic pipes. Cover an area equal to the depth of the fitting sleeves.
Quickly press the fittings and pipes together before the cement starts to get sticky. Hold the pieces together for about 30 seconds until the cement has hardened. Call 01223931383 !
Installing a drain pan for household appliances – Plumbing from the best plumbers in Cambridge
If the exterior wash tub or one of the connecting hoses of a washing machine has a leak, water can damage the floor underneath the washing machine. If your laundry room is on an upper floor, leaking water can damage not only the flooring, but also the ceiling of the room under the washing machine. By installing a drip pan under the washing machine, the water can be collected and safely directed to a nearby drain line.
Attach a 3.45 cm hole saw to a cordless drill. Using the drill, cut a hole through the side of the drain pan.
Place a 2.5 cm O-ring on the male thread of a 2.5 to 1.85 cm PVC threaded socket. Press the O-ring against the bushing collar.
Thread the bushing through the hole you drilled. Be sure to insert the bushing from the outside of the drain pan so that the O-ring is between the bushing collar and the outside of the pan. The thread must be on the inside of the pan.
Slide another O-ring over the threads of the bushing. Tighten the locknut with a pair of pliers.
Twist a 1.85 cm PVC thread-to-hose nipple into the opening of the bushing on the outside of the drain pan. Wrap the thread in an old rag and use the pliers to make sure the nipple is secure.
Place the drain pan on the floor in front of your washing machine. Determine where best to place the drain hose connector you installed and position the connector accordingly.
